How to Win with YouTube’s Recommended Videos

How to Win with YouTube’s Recommended Videos

YouTube has been the hotbed for all things digital video on the Internet.  Since 2005, the video social channel has grown exponentially.  They started on desktop with a few users and have grown incredibly since then, quickly moving with the times to consistently enhance the mobile experience.

Most of us are watching YouTube videos, and other digital videos on our mobile devices whether it be our smartphones or our tablets.

In fact, on mobile, YouTube reaches more 18 – 49 year olds than any broadcast or Cable TV networks.

Plus, one more stat, we watch 1 billion hours of YouTube videos per day, per DAY!

A LOT of people are watching YouTube, so it makes sense for your business to have a channel on the platform.  More and more people are looking to YouTube to find product reviews, and recommendations on services.  You want your business there.

So, new features, what does YouTube have in store for us?  There are two new ones which just rolled out:

  1.  Recommended videos
  2. Rewind and fast forward

It will be very important to use these features for your company or brand’s benefit.

How to Increase Channel Subscribes with YouTube’s New Recommended Videos

It’s never been more important to be consistent with adding videos to your channel.  Your channel should include videos that all relate to a similar topic. Why?  The new recommended videos feature.

Now when people scroll down after choosing a video on a mobile device, at the bottom, before the comments you will see suggestions for four videos that typically come from channels they frequently watch.  It doesn’t mean they subscribe, but they do often watch videos from that channel.

Now it’s time for your channel to have a second chance at adding on those subs as the channel is placed in the viewer’s line of sight once again.

The recommended videos will show in two rows and two columns right above the comments as shown below.

The second feature adding rewind and fast forward is something new YouTube is trying.  If you’re like me, you would try to tap anywhere on the red line while a video is playing to move it forward or backwards depending on which part of the video you want to see.

They added something new.  If you don’t have a crystal ball, you may not know how to rewind or forward your videos any longer because the red line tap technique above (like that name?) doesn’t work on mobile anymore.  Here’s what works!

If you’re looking at the video, tap your finger quickly twice on the right to forward the video 10 seconds, and tap your finger quickly twice on the left to rewind the video 10 seconds.

Want to forward or rewind more?  Finger taps are the winner!

Tap quickly 3x = 20 seconds

Tap quickly 4x = 30 seconds

Tap quickly 5x = 40 seconds

Tap quickly 6x = 50 seconds

Tap quickly 7x = 60 seconds

After that, your finger may ache. (just kidding) Try it!

How can your business benefit from this new feature?  Jump in and get on this fast by telling people in the video to tap X amount of times to fast forward to a certain part of the video. (ie: If you have a specific action you want your viewers to do such as go to a certain link or sign up, use the tap technique to get them there faster).  Doing this in your video will show you are on top of the new trends, plus you are showing that you understand people sometime
