Google and Lenovo Partnered to Bring You a Daydream

Fans have been waiting since the summer of 2017 to learn more about VR180.

Lenovo, along with Yi Technology are bringing VR180 to a headset known as the new “Daydream.”  It will contain two virtual reality cameras.

This new headset is the Mirage Solo with Daydream.  These headsets won’t need to dock a smartphone.

The Mirage Solo will utilize motion tracking from Google’s “WorldSense.”  It allows you to enjoy high quality Virtual Reality anywhere without the need for cables, phone or PC.  It can understand your movements anywhere so you don’t need any external sensors.

The tech inside:

The Mirage Solo Daydream runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM.  That mainly means it’s on the level of the top smartphones of 2017.  It can also last up to seven hours per charge.

While tech is one of the top components of this new headset, they didn’t forget about comfort.  The Mirage Solo is ergonomically designed to include “breathable, insulated contoured padding.”

Google’s main priority around the virtual reality cameras is to treat them like a typical camera, just point-and-shoot.  However, there is a difference.  The cameras in the VR headset will capture 3D video and images.  It’s purposely designed to capture what you see while walking around with the headset.  The cameras utilize a fisheye lens with a 180 X 180 degree field of view.

With the ability to connect right to Google and YouTube accounts, users can easily go live and record photos/videos in 4K resolution.

The price on this new headset?  It hasn’t been publicly announced yet.  There is a contest being run though for VR videographers.  They need to submit a story idea for a VR headset about “a special memory you want to capture to relive or share with those you love.”  The winners chosen will be able to actually bring that story to life with VR180.
